U.S. Trucker Busted Smuggling Mexican Nationals in Sleeper of His Truck

Laredo, Texas – A truck driver, along with five Mexican nationals, were arrested at an immigration checkpoint in Laredo last Friday during a human smuggling attempt.

Laredo Border Patrol agents report the bust took place on August 2 when a white semi-truck on Interstate 35 presented some “anomalies” after a scan of the sleeper area.

The truck was sent for a secondary inspection.

Upon the second inspection, agents located five undocumented immigrants in the truck’s sleeper berth.

The name of the truck’s driver has not been released, though border patrol confirms he was a U.S. citizen.

The driver, along with all five of the individuals found in the sleeper, were arrested.

The truck was then seized by the United States Border Patrol.

This is the latest in an on-going crisis at the border involving human smuggling inside of big rigs.
