Trucker Loses Life In Single-Vehicle Accident Along I-81

Washington County, Maryland – A truck driver lost his life on Tuesday along I-81 near the Pennsylvania and Maryland border when he lost control of his big rig and overturned.

According to Maryland State Police (MSP), Juan Carl Rondon, 45, of Hamilton, New Jersey died at approximately 8:49 a.m. along northbound I-81 at the 12-mile marker.

Rondon was traveling in the right lane when he lost control of the tractor-trailer and left the right side of the roadway traveling down an embankment, MSP said.

According to investigators, Rondon then traveled back onto the roadway and partially overturned the tractor-trailer resulting in the blockage of all northbound lanes.

A truck driver died in a single-vehicle crash along I-81 on Tuesday morning according to MSP.

Crews worked for more than 5 hours to remove the wreckage and reopen the lanes.

Rondon, who was driving for New Jersey-based Metropolitan Trucking, was pronounced dead on the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

MSP said it does not appear as though distracted driving or impairment played a roll in the fatal single-vehicle accident.

However, MSP said its investigation is ongoing at this time.
