Trucker Killed in 4-Semi Crash Along I-5

Bakersfield, California – A trucker lost his life in an early morning collision involving four semis along Interstate 5 in Bakersfield on Wednesday.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), three semi-trucks were stopped for roadwork on the southbound lanes of I-5 near Highway 46 just after midnight on July 17.

The driver of a fourth truck failed to slow for traffic and hit one of the stopped tractor-trailers, according to CHP.

The driver of the truck that was struck was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the big rig, CHP said.

Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The three other truckers involved in the crash were unharmed.

Police have not yet released the identity of the deceased or any of the others involved.

Investigators have also not yet released their preliminary determination as to the cause of the crash.

Transportation Nation Network will continue to monitor the on-going investigation.
