Trucker In Critical Condition After Fiery Collision With Disabled Vehicle On Interstate

Marion County, Florida – A truck driver is in critical condition after colliding with a disabled passenger vehicle along I-75 on Monday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), 36-year-old truck driver, Antwon Gemeyal Allen, was traveling northbound on I-75 near mile marker 371 around 5 a.m. when his tractor-trailer struck the back of a four-door 1999 Infiniti that was disabled in the right travel lane.

Investigators said the impact from the collision caused Allen’s big rig to travel onto the right shoulder, where it then hit a guardrail and multiple trees before bursting into flames.

Emergency crews responded and found Allen alive, but in critical condition.

He was transported to a nearby hospital.

It is unclear at this time why the passenger vehicle was in the roadway and how long it had been there before the crash.

FHP said it is continuing to investigate.

Transportation Nation Network will continue to monitor the investigation.
