Truck Driver Found Dead In His Truck, Apparently Had Been There A While
Rockdale, Illinois – A truck driver was discovered dead in his truck on Thursday at a gas station in Will County, Illinois.
Rockdale Police Chief Robert Dykstra told the Herald News that a tow truck operator discovered a deceased man in the sleeper of a semi parked at a Mobil gas station.
Dykstra said the cab was locked from the inside, but the tow truck operator jimmied the door so he could secure the steering wheel.
Once inside, Dykstra said the tow truck operator found the deceased man, who is from nearby Dolton, Illinois.
The man appeared to be in his 60s. Various personal items were also found in the truck cab such as a driver’s license and prescription medication bottles bearing identical names, according to the Herald News report.
Dykstra indicated there were no signs of foul play.
“It looks like it’s natural (causes),” he said.
The police chief also said investigators found paperwork in the cab indicating the man last had a driving job March 14 of this year.
“He very well could have been there since then,” Dykstra told the Herald News.
The man’s identity has not yet been released.
