Truck Driver Arrested at Truck Stop After Woman Claims She Was Raped
Shelby County, KY – A truck driver from Texas was arrested last weekend after police say a woman accused him of raping her inside the sleeper of his semi-truck while at a truck stop in Simpsonville, Kentucky.
Police arrested 41-year-old Michael Mutinda on Sunday at a Pilot Travel Center, near I-64, in Simpsonville, KY.
According to authorities, a woman claimed she asked Mutinda if she could ride along with him and he agreed.
The alleged victim, who has not been identified, says she got on-board Mutinda’s semi-truck in Danridge, Tennessee.
Police say the woman claims that while at the Pilot in Simpsonville she retired to the sleeper to rest.
Shortly thereafter, she says Mutinda climbed into the bed with her and raped her.
Police say the woman says she feared for her life as Mutinda allegedly threatened to hurt her if she resisted.
Eventually, the woman was able to escape and call for help.
Simpsonville Police arrived on the scene and questioned Mutinda before taking him into custody.
He is now facing a charge of second degree rape and is being held in the Shelby County Detention Center.
