Speeding Motorist Kills Trucker And Flees The Scene
Riverside County, California – A speeding motorist failed to slow for traffic and plowed into a tractor-trailer on Thursday night along the 215 Freeway resulting in the death of a trucker.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the fatal crash occurred at approximately 8:22 p.m. along southbound lanes of the 215 Freeway just north of Cactus Avenue in Moreno Valley.
Investigators said a motorist in a 2004 black Tahoe was speeding and weaving recklessly in and out of lanes when he approached slowed traffic.
The motorist then veered to the right to avoid plowing into the rear of traffic, but collided with a 2019 Freightliner operated by 36-year-old Robert Ferguson of Highland, CA.
The impact of the collision caused the tractor-trailer to rollover and come to rest on the guardrail, CHP investigators said.

However, the driver of the Tahoe not only survived but also managed to flee the scene.
CHP investigators said that following the crash, he was able to exit his vehicle and make his escape.
“It appears he got a ride from an unknown motorist,” CHP spokesman Juan Quintero explained.
CHP is asking anyone who might have information regarding the identity of the driver of the Tahoe to call the Riverside Office at 951-637-8000.
