Semi Runs Red Light Killing Two People, Police Investigating

Glades County, Florida – Two people were killed after a semi-truck ran a red light in Moore Haven on Saturday according to authorities.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said the accident happened at approximately 11 a.m. on Saturday at the corner of U.S. 27 and 10th Street.

Investigators said the semi was traveling westbound along U.S. 27 and failed to stop at a red light before plowing into a 4-wheeler.

 

The driver of the passenger vehicle, 62-year-old Susan Parker, and occupant, 66-year-old David Ward, both of Moore Haven, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver has been identified as 65-year-old Eduardo Irons of Cypress, Texas.

It is unclear at this time why Irons did not stop.

Irons has not been charged at this time.

 

Toxicology results are pending and FHP said they are continuing to investigate.
