Semi Goes Overboard And Plunges Into River

Decatur County, Indiana – A semi went overboard and plummeted into the Flatrock River last Saturday after a 4-wheeler hydroplaned and crashed into the big rig along Interstate 74.

According to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department, emergency responders were called to the scene at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The wreck occurred on I-74 near the 127 mile marker, according to officials.

Investigators said a black passenger vehicle hydroplaned leading to a crash with the semi-tanker.

 

The impact from the collision sent the tanker over the guardrail and plunging into the Flatrock River below.

Emergency responders including the Shelby County Swift Water Rescue team were able to successfully save the truck driver.

The trucker, along with the two occupants of the passenger vehicle, were transported to a nearby hospital.

Agencies responding to the crash included Decatur County Communications, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, Greensburg Police Department, Decatur County EMS, Greensburg Fire, St. Paul Fire, St. Paul Police, Shelby County EMS, Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, Decatur County EMA & IDEM.
