Police Searching For Clues After Crash Claims Life Of Truck Driver

Umatilla County, Oregon – A truck driver has been pronounced dead and a passenger was flown to a nearby hospital after a single vehicle crash along I-82.

Oregon State Police (OSP) are searching for clues that could reveal why a tractor-trailer veered off of the roadway and overturned killing the driver on Friday night.

OSP said the accident happened at approximately 9:40 p.m.

The big rig was traveling eastbound on I-82 when, for still unknown reasons, it left the roadway near milepost 10 and flipped.

The driver was pronounced dead on the scene.

Investigators have not released the names of the victims.

The interstate was closed for 5 hours after the crash while authorities investigated.

OSP was assisted by the Umatilla County Fire Department, Life Flight, Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office, Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, Stanfield Police Department, and ODOT.

This is an ongoing investigation and Transportation Nation Network will bring you the latest developments.
