OOPS! Truck Driver Creates Mess For Motorists Along California Highway

Willits, California – A semi-driver created quite a backup for motorists along US-101 on Tuesday morning after crashing and entirely blocking the roadway.

According to California Highway Patrol (CHP), Lavell Billingsley was operating a 2019 Volvo and hauling a load of mattresses along northbound US-101 when he lost control of the rig and veered to the right edge of the roadway.

CHP said Billingsley then overcorrected and crashed the tractor-trailer into the embankment across the highway at mile marker 53.7 around 4:40 a.m.

The big rig blocked both lanes of travel for motorists for more than 3 hours, according to officials.

CHP reported that Billingsley was uninjured in the crash.

Further, investigators do not believe Billingsley was impaired.

It is unclear at this time what led to the crash.
