Semi Blows Tire Leading To Fatal Crash With Six Motorcycles
UPDATE: Friday, May 10 @ 1:00 p.m. – Transportation Nation Network has learned new details about the investigation into a crash involving a tractor-trailer and six motorcycles along Texas 130 we first reported on Thursday morning.
According to authorities, motorcyclist Raul Granby, 56, perished at approximately 10:04 a.m. when a 2012 Peterbilt, traveling northbound in the outside lane of Texas 130, just north of Lockhart, veered into the inside lane striking Granby’s motorcycle as he was attempting to pass.
Granby and a passenger, his wife, were both ejected from the motorcycle.
Granby was pronounced dead on the scene and his wife was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries according to a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) spokesman.
According to DPS spokesman Sgt. Victor Taylor, the crash involved a total of six motorcycles and the big rig.
No other injuries were reported.
Investigators said the semi blew a front left tire which led to the truck driver losing control and striking Granby and his wife.
The identity of the truck driver has not been released, but authorities said he was uninjured.
The investigation is ongoing.
Lockhart, Texas – A motorcyclist perished in a crash with a tractor-trailer on Thursday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The accident happened along Texas 130 just north of Lockhart around 10:04 a.m., officials said.
According to a DPS spokesman, Sgt. Victor Taylor, the crash involved six motorcycles and a big rig.
Sgt. Taylor confirmed one of the motorcyclists passed away and the other riders reported no injuries.
The trucker was also uninjured.
Investigators are working the scene and have not yet released any of their findings as to what led to the crash.
The identity of the deceased has not been released at this time.
