Motorist Dies After Turning In Front Of Semi, Police Say

Strawberry Reservoir, Utah – A motorist was killed and two others were injured after a passenger vehicle attempted to turn onto US 40 in front of a double tanker semi-truck on Saturday.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP), a Honda Accord attempted to make a left hand turn from Strawberry Road onto US 40 near Strawberry Reservoir at approximately 7:40 p.m.

A Kenworth semi-truck hauling two tank trailers was traveling east on U.S. 40 and collided with the driver-side door of the Accord.

 

The driver of the Accord, 25-year-old Gaje Combs, of American Fork, was pronounced dead on the scene, investigators said.

A passenger in the Accord was flown by medical helicopter to Utah Valley Hospital in Provo.

The truck driver was also injured.

He was transported by ambulance to Heber Valley Hospital in Heber City, officials added.

Authorities have yet to release more information about the conditions of the passenger and the truck driver.

UHP said the crash remains under investigation.
