HAY! Watch out! Errant Bale Of Hay Smashes Up Semi
Edmonton Alberta, Canada – In recent weeks Transportation Nation Network has reported on numerous incidents involving road debris from semi-trucks which have caused the deaths of motorists. Truckers can also be victims of such errant debris. We were reminded of this once again over the weekend.
Camrose Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) are searching for the driver of a flatbed truck who was hauling hay bales, one of which damaged another semi truck last Saturday.
A flatbed truck was travelling south on Highway 21 near Township Road 492 around 5:30 p.m when it lost a straw bale, RCMP said in a news release. The bale fell off the back of the truck and into an oncoming northbound tractor-trailer.
The bale crashed through the windshield of the oncoming truck and caused significant damage. The truck driver was able to safely operate the truck out of the roadway averting any potential additional accidents. The driver, thankfully, was not seriously injured.
However, RCMP are looking for the owner of the flatbed truck. They are asking anyone who was driving in the area, or who may have dash camera video of the incident, to contact them.
