TRUCKER TRIGGERED: Arrested For Allegedly Shooting At 4-Wheeler After Flat Tire Warning
Smith County, Texas – A truck driver has been arrested after he allegedly pulled a handgun and fired it at another vehicle along I-20.
According to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office, 29-year-old Brian Michael Busby, of Oakgrove, LA, was arrested on November 20 after he allegedly fired handgun at an SUV after the motorists inside the SUV attempted to warn him about a flat tire. Officers say they responded to a disturbance along I-20 at approximately 5:44 p.m. The victims, who have not been identified, told officials they noticed the tractor-trailer had a flat tire which was causing sparks to fly.
They say they pulled up alongside the driver to make him aware of it and that’s when they say, the man identified as Brian Michael Busby, pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the passenger side window. The SUV then sped up to allude a potential gunshot when they heard a single shot, according to police. The motorists then called 9-1-1 and then followed the truck to the parking lot of Texas Best Smokehouse, located on Highway 271 and I-20.
Deputies met the alleged victims in the restaurant parking lot where they were found to be physically unharmed, but quite shaken. Deputies inspected the vehicle and reported a single bullet hole was discovered in the right rear bumper of the SUV. They determined the hole was consistent with that of a small caliber handgun being fired at the car.
Busby was confronted by deputies and after further investigation was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was then booked into the Smith County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
