Deer Dodging Trucker Overturns Big Rig

Vermillion County, Indiana – A truck driver told police he swerved to avoid a deer seconds before he lost control of his rig and overturned Thursday night.

According to Vermillion County Police deputies, truck driver Andrew Alcozer, 35, of Villa Park, Illinois said he was operating along northbound Indiana 63 just south of Newport at approximately 11:20 p.m.Thursday when he swerved to avoid striking a deer.

A trucker told police he swerved to avoid a deer seconds before he flipped his big rig.

When deputies arrived on the scene they discovered Alcozer trapped inside the 2016 Freightliner.

 

An emergency rescue team was reportedly dispatched to extricate the truck driver.

Officials were able to successfully extricate Alcozer and he was treated on the scene for non-life threatening injuries.

Road conditions were wet at the time of the accident.

No charges were filed.
