Big Rig Kills Man Pushing Disabled Pickup Truck

Gregg County, Texas – A man pushing his disabled pickup truck along Interstate 20 was killed Friday morning after he was struck by a semi.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) said James Michael Evans, 56, pulled his pickup off the road due to mechanical problems shortly before 2:00 a.m.

According to DPS, Evans, along with his passenger, then began pushing the truck westbound when a semi, driven by William Weimer, 42, also traveling westbound, hit Evans and the pickup.

Evans was pronounced dead on the scene.

Neither Weimer, nor the co-driver of the semi were injured in the crash, according to authorities.

DPS has not identified Evan’s passenger or said if they suffered any injuries.

No charges have been filed though the crash remains under investigation, according to DPS.

Transportation Nation Network will continue to monitor any new developments.
