2 Truck Drivers Killed In Head-on Collision Of Big Rigs
Lincoln County, Wyoming – Two semi-truck drivers perished as a result of a head-on collision along U.S. 30 on Monday, May 6, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
Officials said 63-year-old Portland, Oregon resident, Volodymyr V. Boyko, and 40-year-old Bessemer, Alabama resident, Candi L. Guy, both passed away from injuries sustained in a two semi-truck crash at milepost 64 on US 30 east of Kemmerer, Wyoming.
According to investigators, the crash occurred at approximately 2:49 a.m. when Boyko, driving a 2004 Volvo, was traveling westbound on US 30 and failed to negotiate a slight curve to the right.
Boyko’s big rig then crossed into the eastbound lane colliding head-on with an eastbound 2017 Freightliner, driven by Guy.
Both Boyko and Guy succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene.
A passenger with Guy has been identified as 26-year-old Ludowici, Georgia resident, Daniel C. Laster.
Laster was transported to the South Lincoln Medical Hospital for injuries he sustained in the crash. His condition is unknown at this time.
Investigators said Boyko was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and could not make a determination whether Guy was or was not due to the damage from the scene.
Further, officials said they are investigating “driver fatigue” or “inattention” as contributing factors leading to the crash.
Wyoming Highway Patrol has not made any images from the crash scene available at this time.
